What I learned this week...



1. I need to strip the boys' diapers more often.

2. Justus and Titus' Mother's Day Out teachers must be reading the same websites and blogs I'm reading, because they're stealing all of our at-home activities!!

3. Writing my testimony...something I should already have written, considering the fact that I grew up in a Christian home and went to church and Christian schools my whole life...was not as easy as I thought it would be!

4. Making a list of people and things to pray for really doesn't feel that weird, and it really helps to remind me what to pray for....not to mention the fact that it helps remind me to stop and PRAY!

5. I have a strong need for writing things in my planner and on notes around the house in order to remember things I need to do, people I need to call, places I need to go....

6. I have to actually look at my planner and those brightly colored pieces of paper staring me in the face to see those things I need to be reminded of!! :)

7. I knew laughter was good for the soul, but I learned this week that hearing a baby laugh with his Daddy can bring a whole new level of joy to my heart!

8. Slime is extremely easy to make and provides hours of entertainment for little boys:)

9. Toy cars and slime are not a good combination!

10. I can...NOT...WAIT until I only have one child in diapers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Raising Real Men

I just started reading Raising Real Men by Hal and Melanie Young , and I am already blown away. I read so many rave reviews about the book, and (seeing as I have four boys) I figured it would be a good one for my library. I will posting a "quote of the week" from the book here on the blog, as well as various convictions, thoughts, and things I am learning. I would love to have something to look back at once I'm finished reading the book, and I hope it will benefit those of you with boys out there as well. So often, I feel like I need to re-read books once I finish them simply because it takes me so long to get through them. This is also one of those books that I feel like has so much to chew on in one chapter, I need to let it sit for a few days. Raising Real Men, Part 4

Moving on to chapter 5, we face the topic of discipline . I couldn't WAIT to read this chapter (only that's a lie...I did NOT go into this topic with a cheerful heart!) Lord, forgive me . I often say I have so much to learn when it comes to parenting, but on the subject of discipline?? Well, saying I have a lot to learn is quite an understatement. I often think I'm getting this discipline thing down, you know? Things are going well, my kids are behaving...and then another child hits a different phase, and we're back at square one. It's draining, to say the least. Thankfully, this chapter was full of Scripture, biblical truth, and practical ideas. Let's go... The title of this chapter is "Who's In Charge Here?"
